We're confident that, over time, the balance will shift more towards the enjoying ourselves part of being here, but we aways guessed that, in the short term at least, we would have to devote some time to the house.
Today was split into two parts. The first part was some flat pack furniture making with Catherine taking the lead, while the second part was doing something new for us here - visiting Kissimmee Old Town.
We've got some thoughts as to how to perk up the look of some of the rooms in the house. We decided we'd first attack the smaller twin bedrooms by replacing the chest of drawers in them and by adding a bedside table. So it was off to Walmart for some new bedding and to IKEA for some white bedroom furniture. We wanted to make the look of the bedroom a red, white and blue experience.
Catherine and Elizabeth - with some occasional muscle from you know who - put the bedside table together.
Kissimmee Old Town turned out to be quite a revelation. We knew they did car shows each weekend, but we didn't realise on what scale! What we hadn't really taken in was that it's also home to Fun Spot America, a good, old-fashioned funfair and possible alternative to Disney! Fun Spot America is the sort of place that I imagine Coney Island to be for New Yorkers.
We had a walk around the funfair and admired the many US vintage cars on show there.
